Dr Ambrose Baingana Rutarama is a triple-qualified Orthopaedic Surgeon and scholar. He holds a Master of Medicine (MMed) from the University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa) and is a Fellow of the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of South Africa (FC Orth). Additionally, he completed an ISAKOS-approved fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Knee Surgery at the Linksfield Orthopaedic and Sports Rehabilitation Unit, affiliated with the Johannesburg Orthopaedic Sports Institute (JOSI).

Dr Ambrose Baingana Rutarama has practiced alongside renowned specialists such as Prof. Ponky Firer, Dr. Brad Gelbart, and Dr. Fred Ukunda in Johannesburg, as well as Prof. Butera and Dr. Bukara in Kigali. For the past five years, he has independently managed a comprehensive range of conditions, including trauma, tumors, sepsis, and paediatric orthopaedics. He has a specific passion for Sports Orthopaedics, shoulder reconstruction, and regenerative medicine.

Highly active in elite sports medicine, he served as the Lead Physician for the Basketball Africa League (BAL) for three consecutive years (2022–2024) and supported the 2025 UCI Road World Championships in Kigali.

In academia, he serves as a lecturer at the University of Rwanda and ASOME, providing daily hands-on training to students and residents. He is a certified peer reviewer for the Medical Science Monitor and the author of a landmark paper on pediatric supracondylar humerus fractures.
